Encephalartos sclavoi De Luca, D.W.Stev. & A.Moretti (1990)
Sclavo's Cycad, North-East Tanzania
Encephalartos sclavoi is VERY Critically Endangered: Population 1-49 Mature individuals
https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/41924/114568376
The population size was originally estimated as 5,000-6,000 mature individuals.
Recent reports (e.g. S. Trollip pers. comm. 2008) indicate that populations are declining and plants are difficult to find. It is now estimated that the population is very small, probably less than 50 mature individuals along a mountain ridge.
Encephalartos sclavoi lives 70 years.
