Synonyms: 'Hartmannia speciosa', 'Xylopleurum speciosum'. It is native to central grasslands of the USA and northern Mexico. Ornamental plant. Herbal plant - has been showed that methanolic extract of this plant exhibited potent in vitro antioxidant activity; it was concluded that 80% aqueous methanolic extract exhibited momentous anti-hyperglycemic activities in dose dependant manner; the aerial parts (leaves and stems) of O. speciosa Nutt were also reported to possess significant anti-inflammatory activities in a dose dependant manner.
