It is native to Japan and East Asia, but widely spread in Poland from the half of the XIX century.
Ornamental plant.
Bees feeding plant.
Edible plant - fruits raw or cooked, which tastes like a soft fruit, acid but nice, about the size of a large blackcurrant.
Useful plant - the wood becomes reddish brown to dark red-brown, is hard, but has a tendency to warp.
