Hybrid of 'H.androsaemum' and 'H.hircinum'. Ornamental variety 'Kolmaref'. It is native to western and southern Europe. Ornamental plant. Edible plant - has been used as an ingredient for distilling vodka; not edible in straight way because of mild toxicity! Herbal plant - the leaves are diuretic, stomachic and vulnerary, they have antiseptic properties and have been used to cover open wounds; essential oils obtained from the plant exhibits medicinal activity. Usable plant - a good ground cover plant; a source of red, yellow, purple and orange dyes obtained from the fruits.
