Synonyms are 'Caprifolium sempervirens', 'Periclymenum sempervirens', 'Phenianthus sempervirens'. It is native to the south-eastern United States and evergreen in the warm winter climates of the deep South. Ornamental plant with an extreme flammability rating! Herbal plant - the fruits are emetic and cathartic; the expressed juice of the plant is beneficial in the treatment of bee stings; the leaves have been dried and smoked as a treatment for asthma.
