Philippine tree species for reforestation and food production
Tree species endogenous to South-east Asia, particularly to the Philippine archipelagos, or species originating from other regions (e.g. Indian subcontinent, Caribbean, South America) but adopted by Philippine farming communities for their role in food production, building, generation of energy, traditional medicine and cosmetics. Although the diverse historical functions of the species considered here have been important to ensure their conservation, the trees reviewed in this group are intended for two overall purposes: food production and reforestation.
