Native to Europe, north Africa and west Asia Minor. Bees feeding plant. Poisonous plant, especially aerial parts. Herbal plant - has been used in folk medicine, in small doses, to treat arthritis, dropsy, and chronic skin complaints, and as a spring tonic.
